Nicholas Urfe (pronunced EARTH), a man on the run from love, takes a teaching job in a remote greek village. His investigation of the mysterious suicide of his predesscor leads him to a place called the “waiting room” - a strange estate ruled over by Maurice Conchis (pronunced CONSCIOUS) – a man whose existance is shrouded in mystery. He may be a ghost, a psychic, a nazis sympathesier, a traitor, a mass murderer, a psychiatrist, a film director, an actor in the THEATER OF LIFE or a magician. OR he may be none of these things. The longer Urfe stays at the estate, the more and more his daily existance falls under the control of Conchis and the flimsier his own sense of reality becomes.

Some would call this movie “slow” but DON'T fall asleep before the rite of Pan & Diana and certainly not before the ritual magic drug sequence!!

If this movie was a tarot card it would be XV THE DEVIL
